Trail Camera Reviews - Our Thoughts: Camera Setup Tips

Point North

Avoid direct sunlight washing out your photos by facing cameras North whenever possible, ensuring clear images from dawn to dusk.

Height Matters

Mount cameras roughly 3-4 feet high for standard views, or 6-8 feet angled down to stay out of a buck's direct line of sight.

Clear the Path

Remove any tall grass or small branches directly in front of the lens to prevent false triggers during windy days.

Check Your Seals

Inspect rubber gaskets every time you switch SD cards to prevent moisture buildup and avoid internal condensation.

CONCEAL THEM

Keep cameras off of well used trails and blend them into their surroundings.  Not all whitetails react the same to seeing cameras.  Some pay little attention while others will not tolerate them.

Fresh Power

Use high-quality batteries or Lithium batteries for consistent trigger speeds and long-lasting performance.  Lithium batteries do not seem to last as long in severe cold.
